Day 9--Faith, Not Fear: LETTING GO OF THE CLUTTER

Welcome to Day 9 of our Bible based, Christ focused devotional.

Purpose: With so many people suffering during these tough economic times, I wanted to create a daily devotional which would promote faith in God as a solution to overcoming anger and fear.

Each devotional will provide a daily passage of Scripture for you to reflect on throughout the day. In addition, an “Action Item” will assign a daily, simple task to help you address your fears with faith and move forward with God's plans for you.

Thank you and God bless you for reading this devotional--please share it with others!

DAY 9: LETTING GO OF THE CLUTTER

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE FOR REFLECTION: Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 (King James Version)

OPENING PRAYER: In your opening prayer, please ask God to help you to break free from people and things that are preventing you from fulfilling His plans for your life.

Letting Go of the Clutter This week I spent a great deal of time “de-cluttering the clutter” in our house. Sorting through over 15 years of stuff and deciding what should stay, what should be thrown out, and what should be donated was difficult at first. As I moved forward, it became easier as I would ask myself, “Do I really need this in my life?”

The process of letting go of the clutter allowed me to also think about people in my life who are cluttering my Spiritual growth. As I read the Bible daily and spend more time developing my relationship with Christ and thus, God, I find that things that once appealed to me no longer do so. People that I used to associate with no longer fit as I walk with the Lord.

Now I'm not talking about giving up on folks who are friends and family and cutting them out of my life. We have a duty to spread the Good News to everyone, but that does not mean that we should get caught up in what others in the world are doing, just to be a part of their lives.

Just as de-cluttering the clutter of my house was difficult at first, the process of de-cluttering people, situations and behaviors becomes easier as I pray for guidance.

To be quite frank, deep down in our hearts, we know what is right and what is wrong. God's Spirit wants to shine through us, but It can't if we clutter up are hearts and minds with the dark things of this world.

ACTION ITEM: For our Action Item, I just want you to read today's Scripture for Reflection listed above and think about the people, things and situations that you are “yoked” to and which of these is clutter in your Spiritual life as a follower of Christ.

You are also cordially invited to share with me how things are going with you and our devotions thus far. I welcome comments and suggestions as well. You can reach me via Facebook or my personal email address: Steve@BibleStudyCafe.com

CLOSING PRAYER: For the remainder of our devotions, please pray about whatever the Lord places in your heart and mind.

Until tomorrow, have a blessed day!

A True Relationship with God If you would like a relationship with God, the only way to do it is through His son, Jesus Christ. This is supported in the Bible: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. --John 14:6 (King James Version)

We begin this relationship by first accepting Jesus. Here's a link to more info: http://biblestudycafedotcom.blogspot.com/2010/09/prayer-of-foregivness-and-salvation.html
