Bible Study Cafe, the Talk Show!

Hello friends!

The Holy Spirit has me busy at work on a new Internet talk show I'll host each week about Bible study resources at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/BibleStudyCafe

I hope you'll be able to tune into my live talk show online and even call-in to the show!

The free number to call-in is: (347) 945-7963

The show airs live on the following dates this month:

--Tuesday, April 8: 11:30AM (Eastern Time) --Tuesday, April 15: 11:00AM (Eastern Time) --Tuesday, April 22: 11:00AM (Eastern Time)

If you can't listen live, no problemo as the show will be recorded and be made available for listeners at any time.

Given that I'll be hosting the weekly BibleStudyCafe talk show, (which is basically an audio blog), this written blog will no longer be written daily.

Instead, this blog will provide info and resources in support of the weekly talk show.

I'm excited about this blessing, to be able to spread the Good News, to the uttermost parts of the earth, via the Internet.

I hope you'll listen!

Have a blessed day by telling someone about Jesus!

Your Brother in Christ,

Steven Kendall

Steven Kendall's New Talk Show

I haven't blogged in recent days as I've been busy preparing an Internet talk show that I will host on BlogTalkRadio.com.

This is real short notice, but... You are cordially invited to listen to my new Internet talk show, called "Write On, Right On, Write On!" on http//www.blogtalkradio.com/Write-On-Right-On

The program will be about writing and self-publishing tips.

This Saturday at 6pm ET, I will do a 15 min. practice run of my show so that I can get a feel for the technology. I'm pretty tired from composing, recording and uploading my theme music--wait 'til you hear it! A warning in advance...I will need piano lessons soon. : )

You can call-in during my show to speak to me live at: (646) 200-3542.

Hope you can listen tonight!
If not, no problemo, the show will be recorded and available online for free.

I hope to do a weekly show soon, so you'll have an opportunity to hear me run my mouth in the near future. : )

If you'd like to be a guest on a future show, please contact me.

God bless,

Steve Kendall

Christians Spreading the Gospel with Blogging

In Acts 1:8, Jesus told his disciples and us, that when we accept Him, the Holy Spirit will help us to witness to others: "... you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." The Internet makes it possible to witness for Christ to the uttermost parts of the earth.

I encourage Christians to use the Internet to spread the Gospel. Blogging, short for "Web log," is a great way to do this. Blogging basically involves writing short, diary-type entries on any topic, that one shares with the entire world. If you allow ads on your blog, you can earn money as well. Google has a great service that I use, called Blogger.com, which permits one to create a free blog and restrict ads to specific topics, such as Christianity.

Last year, the U.S. morning news program, Good Morning America, did a really good story on how one can use a blog to spread a message and earn money.

I currently have three blogs, the one you're currently reading, as well as a blog about the writing process and self-publishing tips, called Write On, Right On, Write On!, and Helmet of Salvation, a blog where I offer my opinions on topics of interest to Christians.

Have a blessed day, by spreading the Good News about Jesus!

Billy Graham Evangelistic Association

Now that I'm a Christian, I wanted to view some of Billy Graham's older television specials. Those programs can be viewed at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Web site.

On this site, you'll find a multimedia section with videos of Billy Graham.

Have a blessed day by learning more about God by reading the Bible.

Resurrection Sunday, Not Easter

A few years ago, the pastor of my church, Dr. Lucius M. Dalton, Senior Pastor of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, began to stress the phrase Resurrection Sunday, instead Easter Sunday, which I agree is a good idea, given the pagan origins of Easter.

The Web site, AllAboutJesusChrist.org does a good job of discussing the resurrection of Christ.

There are a number of great online sermons about the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Here are several that I recommend (look for the week of March 17, 2008):

Enduring Truth with Pastor Paul Sheppard

In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley

Living on the Edge with Chip Ingram

Have a blessed weekend by learning more about Christ and His resurrection.

Maundy Thursday (Maundy.com)/ Book: The Last Week

Hello everyone,

I thought I'd take the week off from blogging, but given that this is Holy Week-- as observed by Christians who observe the week leading up to the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ--I was compelled to use this week as a teachable moment and a witnessing opportunity. Churchyear.net has a nice breakdown of this week day by day.

I'm reading an interesting book called The Last Week: A Day-by-Day Account of Jesus's Final Week in Jerusalem by Marcus J. Borg and John Dominic Crossan.

Today, I want to discuss Maundy Thursday. Never heard of Maundy Thursday before, or don't quite remember what it is? Check out http://www.maundy.com as the site does a good job of providing both the definition and historical background of Maundy Thursday.

Be blessed by telling someone about Maundy Thursday!

New teen Christian book by Author, Victoria Christopher Murray

Christian novelist, Victoria Christopher Murray, was a guest on the radio program, Crosstalk Urban Style, yesterday on Heaven1580am.com.

Murray discussed her latest Christian book for teens, Diamond (The Divas), about four teen girls who form a gospel group. An excerpt from the online promotional material reads, "The Divine Divas. They're fifteen and they're fine, and they want to be the hottest, hippest new girl group to hit gospel music. First they'll have to win the team talent competition. But with looks, energy, and voices like theirs, they are sure they'll go right to the top."

The author pointed out during her interview that she wanted to create characters for teen girls that were hip and holy.

I enjoyed listening to the interview and was excited to order a copy of the book for my daughter as the book features African-American, Christian teens.

My wife has read several of Victoria Murray's Christian books for women, such as Joy, Temptation, and Truth Be Told and enjoyed them.

Murray has two well designed Web sites for her teen and adult Christian fiction, including a clever MySpace.com page by the fictional Diva characters.

Have a blessed weekend by supporting Christian authors--buy their books (especially Christian fiction) and spread the word!

Echoing something Ms Murray said during her interview, when you buy a Christian book, you are voting with your dollars and prayerfully, publishers will take notice and offer more books of this important genre.

Christian author, Sherryle Jackson: Soon and Very Soon

I met a fellow Christian author, Sherryle Jackson at a recent book fair and bought a copy of her new book, Soon and Very Soon. My wife quickly read it and thoroughly enjoyed Sherryle's book.

Here's a short blurb from the book cover,

"Everyone thought the ten month courtship and marriage between Willie Green, the strait-laced pastor of the traditional Harvest Baptist church, and Vanessa Morton, the dynamo preacher-pastor from the contemporary Mt. Pleasant Baptist church, was too soon. Neither pastor realized that after the nuptials, all heck would break loose as they planned to combine their respective churches."

Be sure to visit Sherryle's Web site, and support this Christian author by buying her book.

Have a blessed day by thanking God for making you!

Truths That Transform: Answering Skeptics of Christianity

Truths That Transform - the ministry of the late Dr. D. James Kennedy, 1930-2007, is running several of his sermons that address many of the questions skeptics pose about the Christian faith.

At OnePlace.com, you can listen to the archive of this series, beginning with Feb. 28, 2008, "Who Is This Jesus?" through the first week of March with messages entitled, "Are the Scriptures Reliable?" and "What Is God Like?"

I was able to hear one of the messages via radio this week, but will have to make time to listen to the series online very soon.

Have a blessed day by thanking the Lord for all that He has done for you!

The Bible Experience -Audio Bible

I had an opportunity to listen to parts of Inspired By... The Bible Experience, which is an audio Bible voiced by African American actors and found it really compelling and quite moving.

The complete set, of both the Old and New Testament, can be quite expensive, but the publisher, Zondervan, makes this audio Bible available in parts and you can pay for downloads of individual books.

You can listen to audio excerpts and video clips of the actors at Zondervan's Bible Experience site: www.zondervan.com/tbe

Have a blessed day by telling someone about Christ!

Heaven1580AM Crosstalk Urban Style: Self-Publishing Discussion

Today, I'm scheduled to be one of the guests on Marsha Sumner's show, Crosstalk Urban Style on Heaven 1580 AM radio, Monday, March 3 at 11am Eastern Standard Time (EST). The topic will be "Self-Publishing."

If you live in the DC region, you can listen on the AM radio dial at 1580. If you live outside the DC area, or want to use the Internet, please go to www.Heaven1580AM.com.

Marsha Sumner's show airs Monday - Friday, 10am-1pm EST. Ms. Sumner invites listeners to call the show with comments or questions at 1-888-432-1580 or via email at marshasumner@heaven1580am.com

I hope you'll tune in and listen as we need to support this station, which has recently adopted a Christian-talk format--and tell a whole lotta other folks to listen to Heaven1580AM daily! The topic during the 11a.m. hour on Ms. Sumner show will be self-publishing.

I receive a lot of questions about the writing process and self-publishing from readers and have decided to offer tips, that have worked for me, at least once a week, on my personal blog at http://helmetofsalvation.blogspot.com/.

I may eventually start a new blog devoted solely to this topic, but for now, you can visit the link above to read my comments about writing for this week.

Host Marsha Sumner announced last week that she will interview Christian authors beyond the DC area. So, if you have a Christian book, please follow the submission guidelines on the Heaven1580am Web site, and prayerfully, you'll be selected to be interviewed by Ms. Sumner. She can do the interview via phone, or in the studio, if you can travel to the DC area at your own expense.

Hopefully, if selected, you can do an in-studio interview as Ms. Sumner is a warm and gracious Sister in Christ.

In closing, please pray for me as I prepare to be a guest on Ms. Sumner's show once again.

Be blessed today by telling someone about Jesus!

Your Brother in Christ,

Steven Kendall
