Living Word Network

I learned about Living Word Network from a visitor to this blog named Hafis. Hafis, thanks for suggesting this resource. Hafis posted a comment to my blog entry dated Jan. 23, 2008, when I wrote about StreamingFaith.com

Living Word Network lists itself as a the fastest growing Christian faith based portal. Visitors can sign up to become a free member and receive access to sermons, worship services, music and other items.

They also provide a Ministry On Demand Package to churches and other ministries to place sermons, worship services and media materials online. I couldn't find any prices for this service, but they give you the option of contacting them for further info.

Have a blessed day by telling someone about Jesus!

Soul Sanctuary: Images of the African-American Worship Experience

Yesterday, on radio host Marsha Sumner's show, Crosstalk Urban Style, she interviewed Mr. Jason Miccolo Johnson, author of Soul Sanctuary: Images of the African-American Worship Experience

Take time to visit Mr. Johnson's Web site as he includes some of the beautiful, striking photographs from his book.

I recommend that you buy this book for both yourself and for your church.

PBS Frontline Program: The Mormons

PBS is airing a repeat broadcast of their two-part program called, The Mormons, on many of their stations this week. You can also watch the program online at PBS.org.

I highly recommend that you view this program, especially if you don't know much about the Mormon faith also known as
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints .

Mormons, like former presidential candidate Mitt Romney, claim they are Christians, but when one truly learns how they define their faith, it becomes clear that they do not worship Jesus.
The CHRISTIAN APOLOGETICS & RESEARCH MINISTRY (CARM) site does a good job of summarizing Mormon beliefs. For example, Mormons believe the following...
  • That God was once a man from a planet called Kolob
  • Satan is the brother of Jesus
  • The Book of Mormon (their addition to the Bible) is more correct than the Bible
  • Each president of their church is a prophet
  • Their church is the only true church. All other forms of Christianity are an abomination
  • The list goes on and on. I urge you to visit the CARM site for the full list

Do you recall Mitt Romney discussing any of the above? Nope? That's because he didn't. A number of people who voted for him had no idea what he believed in and just assumed he was a Christian--just because he said so.

It is important in this era of New Age religions/cults for believers to ask others to clearly define what they believe.

Be blessed today by telling someone about what Jesus has done for you!

1,001 Things You Always Wanted to Know About the Bible

I recently bought author J. Stephen Lang's book, 1,001 Things You Always Wanted to Know About the Bible, But Never Thought to Ask as a gift for my wife and I've become a real fan of the book. I especially like Lang's chapter called History, from Papyrus to the Present.

J. Stephen Lang has written over 16 other books of trivia and Bible facts and I look forward to buying more of his titles.

As a fellow Sunday School teacher, I was drawn to her blog and like what I see thus far as her lessons are brief, well researched and written in an easy to understand fashion suitable for everyone.

Edward Gilbreath's Reconciliation Blog

I don't remember how I stumbled upon Reconciliation Blog, the blog of journalist Edward Gilbreath, but I'm sure glad I did!

I'm a bit under the weather today, but really look forward to reading Mr. Gilbreath's blog entries and his latest book, Reconciliation Blues: A Black Evangelical's Inside View of White Christianity

Given that I'm a bit mentally foggy this morning, and can't wait to get back into bed and get some sleep, I'll be lazy and just quote Ed's bio from his Web site, www.edgilbreath.com:

"Edward Gilbreath is director of editorial for Urban Ministries, Inc., a national publishing and communications company based in Chicago. He formerly was the editor of Today’s Christian magazine and currently continues as an editor at large for Christianity Today."

I printed out several of Mr. Gilbreath's articles to read while recovering in bed today including his Jan. 2007 article, Exit Interviews: Why blacks are leaving evangelical ministries.

Have a blessed day by telling someone about what Jesus has done for you!
